Varies GENERAL OVERVIEW The Labor Hand is responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations at the construction site.
Duties include loading and unloading tools and raw materials, assembling or maintaining equipment, digging or filling pits, putting in/up fence as needed on the construction site, and other duties as assigned.
Experience with underground utilities and pipe laying.
The duties and responsibilities of a laborer are all geared toward maintaining a clean, safe and efficient construction site while also supporting the overall project.
The list of duties and responsibilities for a laborer on any given day may include the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES Cleaning and preparing construction sites.
Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
Building and taking down scaffolding and temporary structures.
Digging trenches, compacting earth and backfilling holes.
Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment.
Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans.
Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.
Ensure equipment is checked daily and maintained proactively as needed Be safety conscious in all his/her work and behavior and encourage safety in others Keep supervisor(s) informed of upcoming/existing impediments to project success REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or GED preferred Must be at work on time each day as directed Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Excellent communication skills Knowledge of the construction industry and processes Perform quality checks on construction equipment Maintain a positive attitude and represent the company in a positive capacity in all interactions and at all times.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS Physical & Environmental Demands will include but not be limited to:
sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting of upper body, and manual dexterity for operation of construction and construction-related machines/equipment.
Vision to include:
near, far, visual accommodation, color, and depth perception.
Must be able to hear sound(s) clearly and distinctly to effectively receive, understand and reiterate information.
Lifting and manual labor is required, and often in extreme environmental conditions.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Should possess a valid driver's license and have an excellent driving record to drive company owned or leased vehicles.
